Email signup

If you sign up for email, we store your email address, the page you signed up on, and when you signed up and confirmed. We use it only to email you about new Cloud Explainers videos and their written pages. We never sell or share it.

Nothing is sent until you click the link in the confirmation email. An address that is never confirmed is deleted automatically after 48 hours. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes your address.

Addresses are stored in Amazon DynamoDB, encrypted, in our own AWS account in the US (us-east-1), and emails are sent with Amazon SES.

Server logs

Like any website, our hosting (Amazon CloudFront) keeps standard request logs, which we use only to count page views and see which sites send visitors. They are deleted after 180 days.

Videos

Video pages load YouTube only when you press play, from youtube-nocookie.com. After that, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.
